Senior Project Controller - Permanent - SC Eligle Candidates only

Location: Leatherhead, Surrey

Hybrid Working Model: 3 Days on-site

Salary: £40,000 - £45,000 per annum

Paritas is working with a longstanding leading Science & Defense client who are currently on the look out for a Senior Project Controller to join their team at their headquarters in Leatherhead.Due to the nature of the projects all candidates will need to have a 5-year footprint in the UK in order to obtain the SC Clearance.

This role will primarily focus on cost control and management with secondary responsibilities in schedule development and monitoring and risk modelling and monitoring. The ideal candidate will support project teams in maintaining financial discipline, ensuring accurate forecasting, and contributing to the successful delivery of projects within budget and time constraints.

Responsibilities

Cost Management (Primary Focus):

  • Assist in the development and maintenance of project cost control systems and coding structures.

  • Monitor project budgets, commitments, expenditures, and forecasts.

  • Prepare internal and external monthly cost reports and variance analyses.

  • Track commercial changes and trends in cost performance and recommend corrective actions.

  • Collaborate with procurement and finance teams to ensure accurate cost tracking.

  • Support earned value management (EVM) reporting where applicable.

Schedule Support (Secondary Focus):

  • Assist in collecting and validating schedule data from project teams.

  • Support schedule updates and progress tracking using scheduling tools (e.g., Primavera P6, MS Project).

  • Identify schedule deviations and assist in developing recovery plans.

Risk Monitoring (Secondary Focus):

  • Support the identification and logging of project risks and opportunities.

  • Assist in maintaining the risk register and tracking mitigation actions.

  • Contribute to periodic risk reviews and reporting.

Experience:

  • Previous experience in project controls, cost engineering, or a similar discipline

  • Strong understanding of cost control principles and proficiency with tools such as Excel and cost management software

  • Basic knowledge of scheduling and risk management practices - Desirable

  • Excellent analytical and numerical skills with attention to detail

  • Clear communication skills and ability to work effectively within a team

  • Solid understanding of financial principles, including revenue and cost recognition

  • Knowledge of the full project lifecycle and delivery methodologies

  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

  • Experience in workforce forecasting and resource management across both fixed-price and time-and-materials contracts

Technical Skills/Knowledge

  • Proficiency with cost management systems such as Deltek Cobra, Costpoint, SAP, or MSD

  • Primavera P6 or MS Project.
